GASSERS PR: PETERSON HEADS SOUTH, PICKS UP TWO TOP TENS

RAWSON, OH (April 8, 2024): Another rain-filled weekend in Ohio left Ricky Peterson with no choice, he had to leave the state in order to get some racing in. With weather looking sketchy in neighboring states, Peterson decided to put the 360 motor in and head south to race with the USCS. It was his best chance to get a full weekend of racing in.

“The USCS races had no chance of rain, it was our best chance to get two races in” said Peterson.

Peterson and his two friends/crew members loaded up and headed south to race at Carolina Speedway on Friday. A bad pill draw had Peterson starting deep in his heat race. After starting 7th, he was able to move up and finish 5th to transfer into the feature. From his 12th place starting spot, he advanced 5 positions to collect his second top 10 of the season.

“I feel like I learned a lot about my race car. We’re definitely getting a handle on it.”

On Saturday, Ricky and the team headed to Cherokee Speedway for another night with the USCS. The night got started much better, and Peterson ran second in his heat race. The performance was enough to get him into the dash, where he finished 5th. During the feature, Peterson fell back one position and ended up in 6th.

It was a solid weekend for the Peterson Motorsports team. A last minute trip south proved to be a smart decision for the team. They continued to make gains and picked up their second and third top tens of the season.

“Cherokee was good. For going to two new tracks and not having many 360 notes, we learned a lot and are excited to get back there.”

Up next, Peterson hopes to return to 410 action in the Ohio area. Tentatively, he will be at Attica Raceway Park on Friday and Wayne County Speedway with the FAST Series on Saturday.

Feature: Started 12th. Finished 7th.

Saturday, April 6: Cherokee Speedway

Heat: Started 1st. Finished 2nd.

Feature: Started 5th. Finished 6th.
