RAWSON, OH (April 23, 2024): Another weekend of questionable weather had Ricky Peterson wondering if he was going to race at all. With Attica cancelling on Friday, the Peterson Motorsports team loaded up and made the long trip to Lernerville Speedway in Western Pennsylvania.

This season, Peterson and car chief Luke Wolford are making all the set-up calls on the no. 2 for the first time. The decision to tow to Lernerville was all about getting the car better on the track and growing the notebook off the track. It was a decision that would pay off mightily for the team later in the weekend.

At Lernerville, Peterson was solid. He started 2nd in his heat race and stayed there. In the feature, Peterson advanced two positions from his 9th place starting spot to finish the night in 7th. It was his second top 10 of the season in 410 competition and one that would provide momentum for the following night.

“We were decent at Lernerville” said Peterson. “We tried a lot of different stuff on the car to find a solid balance and I think it definitely helped leading into Wayne County.”

The following day, the team loaded up once again and headed to Wayne County Speedway. It was the season opener, and Peterson was eager to hit one of his favorite tracks.

At Wayne County, the car was fast right out of the gate. Peterson went quickest overall in qualifying and won his heat race from his 4th starting position. The impressive start to the night landed him on the pole for the feature.

Peterson took advantage of the pole position, leading 22 laps and fending off charges from Brandon Spithaler and Lee Jacobs to pick up his first win of the season.

“We unloaded strong at Wayne County. We still have a little work to do to get it really dialed in but we are definitely heading in the right direction.”

For the Peterson Motorsports team, it has been a season filled with last minute decisions based off of the weather in order to get some racing in. The team has traveled a bit more than anticipated to start the year, but the hard-work and commitment is starting to pay off.
