With Georgetown and Bridgeport cancelling their programs for the weekend, both Grandview Speedway and New Egypt Speedway were the only two modified tracks in action. A massive field of 50+ modifieds signed in for the Bruce Rogers Memorial and season opener at Grandview. At New Egypt, an additional 27 cars signed in for weekly action.
Grandview Speedway
Mike Mahaney picked up his first win of the young 2024 season by holding off a stout field of invaders and Grandview regulars. Stewart Friesen, Anthony Perrego, Alex Yankowski, Danny Bouc and Billy Pauch Jr were among the invaders, joining track regulars Duane Howard, Craig Von Dohren, Ryan Watt and Tim Buckwalter. Mahaney, who will be chasing the Super DIRTcar Series title in 2024, held off all challengers and put together a dominant night.
Friesen came home in second, followed by Perrego. Perrego has finished in the top 10 in every race that he has entered this season and has his 2024 campaign off to a hot start. Grandview regulars Duane Howard, Craig Von Dohren and Doug Manmiller had strong runs.

New Egypt Speedway
At New Egypt Speedway, Ryan Godown picked up his second win of the 2024 season. Godown, who won last week at Georgetown, will be a track regular once again in 2024. Bridgeport Speedway standout, Cale Ross, made the trip to New Egypt and came home in second. Rising star, Justin Grosso, completed the podium and picked up his first top five of the season.
Jim Housworth, Joe Brown and Davey Sammons all started their 2024 seasons strong. Housworth and Brown picked up top fives, with Sammons grabbing a sixth place finish. With the cold weather, 27 cars still signed in. Although Bridgeport was not running, it seems like both tracks will be able to get around 24 cars on a weekly basis.
