The USAC National Sprint Car Championship continues their season with a stop at Red Hill Raceway on 7/3 and a two-day show at Lincoln Park on 7/5-7/6. Logan Seavey holds a 44 point advantage over Justin Grant in the current standings. Seavey has won 3 of the last 6 National races. Mitchel Moles, Justin Grant and Kevin Thomas Jr are other recent winners.
Red Hill Raceway (7/3)
Track Info: 4/10, high-banked oval
Weather: High of 90 degrees, 70% chance of scattered thunderstorms throughout the evening.
Past Winners: Chase Stockton (MTSC, 2024, unsanctioned 2023), Carson Short (MTSC, 2024)
If the weather holds off and we do get this show in, Chase Stockton will definitely be a name to watch. Stockton has been somewhat underwhelming to start his 2024 USAC campaign, with an average finish of 14.1 in his last 8 USAC National starts. Stockton is in need of a boost, and his experience at Red Hill could be just what he needs.
Kyle Cummins is another driver who has solid results at Red Hill. Cummins has 9 top 10 finishes in his last 11 USAC starts. He finished 2nd to Stockton at the MTSC race at Red Hill back on 5/25.
When you think of 4/10, high-banked racetracks, you think of Justin Grant. Grant hasn’t found victory lane since the Corn Belt Clash at Knoxville on 5/31. Still, he has 5 wins on the season and is right in the mix in the championship standings. Prior to his 16th place finish at Macon last weekend, Grant’s worst finish was 8th in his last 6 races.
Obviously, Seavey can never be counted out at any track. Kevin Thomas Jr and Ricky Lewis are also two names worth mentioning. Lewis has been racing everywhere this season, already collecting 11 wins in 35 starts. He’s still looking for that first USAC win of the season and a track like Red Hill is right up his alley.
Lincoln Park (7/5-7/6)
Track Info: 5/16 oval
Weather: Friday – high of 82 degrees, 50% chance of storms in the morning before clearing. Saturday – high of 81 degrees, 8% chance of rain with partly cloudy skies.
Recent Past Winners: Tye Mihocko (8 since 2022), Kyle Cummins, Jake Swanson (2 wins in 2023, 1 USAC), CJ Leary, Brady Bacon, Ricky Lewis, Weston Gorham, Brayden Fox.
USAC East Coast star, Briggs Danner, is expected to make an appearence for both shows at Lincoln Park. Danner captured the attention of thousands after his performance during USAC Eastern Storm a few weeks ago. Danner picked up his first career USAC National win at Grandview, and easily could have had 2 more at Williams Grove and Port Royal. He has two previous starts at Lincoln Park, finishing 7th in 2022 and 11th in 2023. Danner is a different driver in 2024, clearly improving each time he hits the track. Don’t be surprised to see him battling for wins this weekend.
Jake Swanson has been almost non-existent in 2024. He recently parted ways with the no. 2b machine with the hopes of revamping his season. Lincoln Park is the perfect place to do that, as Swanson won two times at the historic Indiana facility in wingless competition last season.
Brady Bacon also picked up a USAC win at Lincoln Park last season. Excluding one DNF, Bacon has an average finish of 4.1 in his last 8 starts at Lincoln Park. Bacon will look to gain some ground on current point leader Logan Seavey.
Mitchel Moles has been a model of consistency over his last 16 wingless starts. In those 16 starts, Moles has finished outside of the top 10 just two times! Half of those starts have resulted in top 5 finishes, with two of them coming in the form of wins. Moles finished 2nd at Lincoln Park back on 6/6 and won an Indiana Sprint Week feature at the track in 2022.
