Anthony Macri Has Eyes on the Trophy Cup
In a recent interview with the Quicktime The Podcast, Anthony Macri revealed that he has hopes to attend the 30th annual Trophy Cup at Tulare on October 17-19. Macri, who has raced in the event in the past, stated that he has been in contact with California driver and car owner, Kyle Hirst about another opportunity. Macri teamed up with Hirst for the Trophy Cup in 2021 and immediately became a fan favorite. He drove to an impressive 2nd place run on his prelim night during his first night on the track. Tulare is a track that really suits Macri’s driving style, and if the opportunity comes to fruition, he will be one of the favorites heading into the event.

Tyler Swank Teams up With Ayden Gatewood
During Tuesday’s High Limit Racing action at Riverside, it was announced that former CMR and RSR crew chief, Tyler Swank was turning the wrenches on Ayden Gatewood’s no. 37. Gatewood, who is just getting his 410 sprint car career off the ground, qualified for the show and ended up advancing eight positions to finish 15th. Not only was it Gatewood’s best performance against High Limit, it was one of his best finishes in a 410. With Swank’s veteran leadership and Gatewood’s raw talent, we could see a breakout year from the young driver if this combination continues.

Callum Williamson has never gone so fast
On a Facebook live, Aussie driver Callum Williamson revealed that the laps he turned at Selinsgrove on Sunday were the fastest he’s ever gone in a 410 sprint car in his life. He ended up finishing the night in 6th and making huge gains after his debut at Lincoln. Williamson also revealed that car owner, John Trone wanted him to race a 70-80 race schedule in the states this year, but the proposition was too last-minute for it to happen. This year, Williamson is tapped to race 40+ races around Central PA and with the Outlaws and High Limit. He linked his struggles at Lincoln to it being the first time in the car and the first time using the smaller RR tire. In Australia, sprint car teams run a slightly larger tire than they do in the states.
A Great Opportunity for Paul Nienhiser
After parting ways with Carson McCarl after just three races, the Beaver Racing 12x has tapped Paul Nienhiser to wheel the car at the upcoming High Limit show at Lakeside and weekly action at Knoxville on 5/4. Nienhiser, who we don’t get to see very often, is quietly one of the better sprint car drivers in the midwest. He picked up 8 wins in 2023, primarily in 360 competition and with MOWA. From what I can find, Nienhiser’s last laps around Knoxville in a 410 came on July 4, 2015. Nienhiser is a veteran behind the wheel, but it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to a brand new ride against much different competition.
Cole Macedo Belongs on Tour
Since jumping behind the wheel of the Kevin Newton 16T, Cole Macedo has been running up front with the World of Outlaws and High Limit consistently. Macedo, who displayed his talents racing locally in Ohio a few years ago, looks like a completely different guy this season. He’s gotten some pushback for his aggressive moves on track in the past, but I haven’t noticed anything like that this year. If blowing by his older brother wasn’t enough to convince you, maybe the fact that only Anthony Macri, Brian Brown and Brady Bacon have been better against the two national series this season. Right now, Macedo has plans to contend for the NARC title in the Tarlton 21, as well as the High Limit Midweek Money series in the Newton 16T.
