RAWSON, OH (April 15, 2024): After debating to travel to Missouri to run with the World of Outlaws at I-55, Ricky Peterson and team decided it would be best to stay local and race at Attica on Saturday. Mother Nature was not kind to Ohio and surrounding areas last week, forcing Peterson to only have one option on his schedule.
A field of 41 cars signed in for the second race of the season at Attica. For Peterson, the night started off with great speed, timing 2nd in his group and 4th overall. To be 4th quick with such a strong field of cars on hand was a sign of improvement early in the season.
“We were happy with the speed in qualifying, said Peterson. We are definitely making gains.”
Peterson started his heat race in 3rd, and that is where he would finish. The result earned him a 15th place starting position for the $6,000 to win A-Main.
From the heat race to the feature, the track changed dramatically, going from fairly smooth to “cowboy up” very quickly. Peterson and the team were not fully prepared for the changes, and made some wrong decisions for the feature. At the end of the night, Peterson crossed the line with a 17th place finish.
“It sucks big time to back up like that and lose positions. We made some bad choices on the car and we were not prepared for a rough racetrack.”
Overall, the team learned from their mistakes and are already looking ahead to next weekend.
“It is what it is. We didn’t adapt enough but we are looking forward to the next one.”
