The Sprint Car “Conference Realignment” We All Need

With rumored changes on the horizon for the 2024 sprint car season, I couldn’t help but think about what the Outlaws and “All Stars” would look like next year. Obviously, it has yet to be announced what is going on with the potential High Limit / All Star merger, but even if that happens, I would expect the All Stars to continue on a similar schedule that they have now with some more “High Limit” races added. I think most of the Outlaws will remain the same, but maybe they give the drivers a few more waivers to run different events. If that is the case, I think we could see some more drivers commit to running the Outlaw circuit.

This is just for fun, but this is the realignment that I think would make both series a must watch for every sprint car fan across the country. I decided to include 16 full time drivers in each series. I tried to be realistic about teams that would have the funding to run a full time touring schedule.

Full Time Outlaws

This list has most of the current full time Outlaws returning for 2024. Kasey Kahne, Brock Zearfoss, and Jacob Allen would be moving over to the All Star / High Limit Circuit. Tyler Courtney has been dominant with the All Stars and would be a huge addition to the Outlaws. Corey Day had his break out season in 2023 and I think he is ready to make the jump and be one of the most dominant rookies the sport has ever seen. Brent Marks, who we all know enjoys his current schedule, would return to the Outlaws and immediately be a championship contender. Cory Eliason enjoyed success in his first season behind the wheel of the Crouch Motorsports no. 11 and that team has the funding to endure such a demanding season. Sam Hafertepe Jr. raced all over the country on a weekly basis, he has had some success but I think he would be a fine addition to a full time series.

The All Stars took a hit with a lot of driver changes and teams dropping out in 2023. It would be great if the series could gain more full time drivers, especially with the potential help from High Limit. Zeb Wise will return to defend his title but will have a lot more competition. Justin Peck and Aaron Reutzel return to run a full time schedule. Brock Zearfoss, Kasey Kahne and Jacob Allen come over from the Outlaws in a move that I think would benefit the confidence of each driver. Anthony Macri makes a triumphant return to the family no. 39M and chases his first major touring series title. Buddy Kofoid continues his run in the Roth no. 83. Chris Windom, who made great strides with the wing on top in 2023, will continue to get better. Kyle Reinhardt looked great in his short stint in the Grove 45 and I think he can bring some funding to make that team very competitive. Kraig Kinser and Brandon Spithaler also join the All Stars behind the wheel of cars they spent time in during 2023. Cole Macedo comes back East and runs a full schedule. Kerry Madsen stays behind the wheel of the Vermeer no. 55 and PPM finds a ride to rejoin the series. Ryan Timms will continue to improve and will be a threat to win rookie of the year.
