What looked to be an absolute disaster of a weekend for NASCAR ended with an incredible race through the streets of Chicago. Shane Van Gisbergen stunned the field and won the inaugural event. He put on a master class of street circuit driving after pit stops put him in 18th position.

The one thing that kept sticking out to me was those Red Bull logos on his helmet when they were showing his in car camera. I couldn’t help but think that Red Bull should field an open car in the Cup Series and have SVG run on road courses. Hell, they could even put Daniel Ricciardo in the car for super speedways.

Project 91 and Trackhouse have done an incredible job with bringing exposure to the sport in such a short period of time. Justin Marks and his team have made such a huge splash in every way possible. There is no doubt in my mind that a Red Bull open car would be incredibly popular.

Come on Christian Horner, let’s get this thing done.
