When the Chiappelli Motorsports team and Ricky Peterson Jr teamed up for the 2025 season, the pairing knew that it would be a season of building. They came into the year with a loaded schedule built around Western Pennsylvania and Ohio, which would allow them to race as much as possible without doing a ton of traveling. The main focus was to win the FAST on Dirt series championship and build a team capable of winning races.

Through 34 races, Peterson Jr has a comfortable lead in the FAST Series championship and has won two races at Tri City Raceway Park. He has 14 top five finishes to go along with 23 top 10s. While the numbers are impressive, Peterson isn’t quite satisfied with how the first half of the season has gone.

“I’m really proud of our efforts, we knew it was going to be a building year,” said Peterson.

“The highlights have been the 2 wins and 8 podiums. We’re improving but we are nowhere near where we know we can be.”

Still, the numbers don’t lie when you look at Peterson’s improvement over 2024. Peterson already has more top 5 and top 10 finishes in 2025 compared to 2024. The team has been super consistent, and they all know and believe that they can get even better.

“Tom and Fran give us everything we need to succeed and I am super thankful for the opportunity they have given me. I know we can win more races this year.”

Looking ahead, Peterson and the team have a busy August in front of them. They plan to be at Millstream Speedway on Friday, Muskingum County on Saturday and Lernerville on Sunday. After that, the team will shift their focus to weekly action around Western PA and Ohio.

Peterson sees this upcoming stretch as an opportunity to grow their FAST Series points lead and pick up some good finishes around Western PA. If there has been one thing hindering Peterson’s performance this season, it’s been the weather.

“The weather has been a bummer. We’ve wasted a lot of miles on the road and I haven’t been able to find a consistent rhythm of racing.”

Finding consistent rhythm is one goal that Peterson hopes to achieve in August.
