RAWSON, OH (May 22, 2024): On Friday night against the World of Outlaws at Attica Raceway Park, Ricky Peterson’s weekend began with a bit of disappointment after he failed to make the feature against some of the nation’s best competition. With a “no quit” attitude from Peterson and his team, they quickly regrouped and got ready for another night of racing at Wayne County. The hard work and dedication paid off, as Peterson was able to pick up his second win of the young 2024 season after sweeping the night at Wayne County.

“On Friday with the Outlaws, I think we were better than the results showed, said Peterson. I just didn’t do a good job qualifying and it put us behind.”

Saturday night at Wayne County, the Peterson Motorsports team unloaded incredibly quick out of the gate. Peterson went fastest overall in qualifying, fourth to first in his heat, and led the A-Main wire-to-wire to pick up his second win of the year. Luke Wolford, the Peterson Motorsport’s car chief, had the #2 dialed in all night long.

Peterson’s efforts at Wayne County on Saturday did not go unnoticed around the sprint car world, as he was running the line known as the “Haud Line” all night long and making it work to perfection. He credited his success to watching a lot of videos from past races at Wayne County. The time spent working on the car and in the “classroom,” is really starting to pay off for Ricky and the team.

On Sunday, Peterson hoped to carry the momentum into Western Pennsylvania at Tri-City Raceway Park. The day was no short of an adventure, as the team’s trailer suffered a tire blow-out on the way to the track. Fortunately, they made it in time, only to suffer from a bad pill-draw to start the night.

A tough racing surface made things difficult for Peterson all night long, ultimately leading to him settling for an 11th place finish.

“Sunday was just doomed from the beginning. It was one of those days where nothing could go right no matter how hard we worked. The bad pill draw determined our fate early in the night.”

Overall, it was a solid weekend for Peterson and his team. They overcame plenty of adversity, and picked up their second win of the season. His win makes him one of just 19 drivers across the country who have multiple trips to victory lane in 2024. He joined Cap Henry and Bryce Lucius as the only Ohio drivers who have multiple wins this season. His three top five and six top ten finishes put him in a tie for second most amongst the stout Ohio field.
