Massive Chili Bowl Nationals Preview

The 2024 Chili Bowl Nationals kicks off tomorrow with the entry list currently sitting at 373. Since 1987, only 23 drivers have been able to win the historic event. Sammy Swindell leads the way with five Chili Bowl titles. Kevin Swindell has four, Christopher Bell has three and five drivers are tied with two titles.

As usual, the week will be split into five qualifying nights. Monday will include the Race of Champions along with the regularly scheduled qualifying. This year’s Race of Champions will include the following:

Monday is highlighted by three drivers who have made a combined 38 Chili Bowl A-Mains but have never been able to win the race. Those drivers are Jerry Coons Jr (18 A-Main starts), Shane Golobic (10 A-Main starts) and Chris Windom (10 A-Main starts). 16 rookies (Chili Bowl first timers) will be in action, including Kevin Newton, Bryant Bell, Ricky Lewis, Jake Scott and more. Out of all of the drivers competing on Monday, none of them have been able to add a Chili Bowl win to their resume.

On paper, Tuesday appears to be the lightest day in terms of tough competition. Still, veterans Thomas Meseraull and Zach Daum will battle with Buddy Kofoid, David Gravel and Kevin Thomas Jr. A long list of notable entries who have not yet made a Chili Bowl A-Main in their career is headlined by Parker Price-Miller, Tanner Holmes and KJ Snow.

If you can only tune into one qualifying night, make sure it’s Wednesday. A stacked lineup includes Tulsa King Sammy Swindell, as well as Jonathan Beason, Tyler Courtney and Blake Hahn.
