When Doug Rose took over Bridgeport Motorsports Park a few seasons ago and reconfigured the speedway to a 4/10 mile, it was clear he had a vision of more than just Northeast dirt modified and sportsman racing. Rose immediately began scheduling high profile 410 sprint car races with the World of Outlaws, All Stars and High Limit Series. He also got the USAC East Coast 360 wingless cars to make an annual stop at the New Jersey facility. More recently, Rose has added unsanctioned 410 sprint car races with the “Invasion of the Posse” and “Octoberfest” races with the hopes of attracting the large field of Central Pennsylvania sprint cars.

For the 2024 season, Rose is hoping to continue to add more sprint car races during weekly competition. Joining the full time three division program of modifieds, sportsman and street stocks will be the MASS (Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series) 305 Sprint Car Series and the NEWS wingless crate sprint car series. The 305 series has been a regular visitor at Bridgeport, even during the 5/8 mile days. It sounds like they will be on schedule for some additional events in 2024.

Rose will also continue his strong relationship with the USAC East Coast series and USAC National series. The schedules have not been released yet, but it does sound like we can pencil Bridgeport in on the USAC schedule. Bridgeport closed out their 2022 season with one of the best USAC 360 wingless races I have ever seen.

In terms of 410 sprint car racing, it sounds like we will have to wait until the High Limit and World of Outlaws release their schedule. Rose mentioned that he was waiting for the schedules to release to potentially add another unsanctioned 410 race at Bridgeport in 2024. Does that mean Bridgeport will not be a part of a major national touring series schedule? Not necessarily, as Rose indicated that he was waiting to make more announcements for 2024.

Bridgeport Motorsports Park has produced some really good sprint car races over the last few seasons. Their most recent “Octoberfest” 410 race paid out $15,000 to the winner. I think it would be a mistake if High Limit or the Outlaws ignored adding Bridgeport to their schedule. Stay tuned.
