Landon Crawley picked up his best career national 410 sprint car finish on Thursday night against the High Limit regulars at Texas. Crawley charged from his 18th starting position and ended up finishing the night in p7. Crawley has spent much of his young career racing against the World of Outlaws and High Limit series’ and it is easy to forget just how young he is. It was a disappointing start to the season for Crawley in the Dutcher 17GP, but I really like his chances in the Herrerra 45x. Look for Crawley to string together some really nice finishes this year.
Rain once again washed out almost all racing in PA and Ohio over the weekend. From my count, that is roughly 65% of all scheduled races in the two states that have been lost to weather. With the Outlaws headed toward the Posse, hopefully things start to get better.
I didn’t really comment much about any of the “wing” controversy between Danny Dietrich and the Shark Racing team. Here are my thoughts: It is a non-issue. If the Shark Racing 1A did anything to alter their wings, then they are just one of probably hundreds of sprint car teams across the country doing it. I think Dietrich had valid arguments in his video, but I think the timing of the comments were in poor taste. Ashton Torgerson won his first career 410 race against a strong field of cars and now that is completely overshadowed by something that could have been brought up at another time or in private.
Sam Hafertepe Jr is taking “porch sitting” to a whole new level in 2025. The full-time ASCS 360 driver now has 3 podium finishes against the Outlaws and High Rollers, all coming in his home state of Texas. He capped off the weekend at Texas with a 4th place finish. Hafertepe now has 2 wins and 8 top 5 finishes in just 13 410 starts this season.
Bryce Norris went quick time with the IRA at Wilmot on Saturday night before finishing 2nd in the A Main. Norris is just weeks away from his high school graduation and already has one career 410 win under his belt. Look for Norris to ramp up his schedule during the summer months as he will continue to get better with more experience behind the wheel.
Ryan Timms was very impressive on Saturday night at Knoxville, picking up his first career win at the sprint car capitol. Timms held off a hard-charging Brian Brown multiple times in the feature and masterfully made his way through lapped-traffic. You can’t help but notice how much better Timms looked at Knoxville with the experience from the Liebig team. If they continue to race for the points championship, look for Timms to be at the top throughout the season.
Kasey Kahne continued his resurgence behind the wheel of a 410 sprint car in 2025. He had two solid runs at Texas and finds himself 6th in the High Limit points standings headed into a busy month of March. Prior to the season, Kahne was not supposed to run full-time with the High Limit tour, but his last minute decision seems to be paying off early in the season.
Shout out to Tony LaPorta and the High Limit Broadcast for not only interviewing Rees Moran after his impressive heat race run, but for also showcasing one of his sponsors throughout the night. Little things like that can go a long way in this sport and the “Rainbow Nut Butter” bit was a playful way to make the broadcast entertaining.
Jade Hastings picked up right where he left off by winning the NOSA season opener at Nodak on Sunday. Hastings won four races last season and is now just one win away from winning his 30th career winged 410 race.
A huge month of May lies ahead for sprint car fans. High Limit begins one of their busiest portions of the season and the Outlaws will be cutting through Pennsylvania and Ohio. It all starts this week.
