When it was announced that High Limit Racing was purchasing the All Star Circuit of Champions and going national, many were concerned about a regional void in the Ohio area. The FAST Series was immediately brought into the spotlight after they were handed the responsibility of sanctioning Ohio Sprint Speedweek. While the news raised some questions, anyone who was familiar with the FAST Series and those behind the scenes knew that it was in good hands.

The series also announced a larger schedule, increased purses, and an increased points fund for 2024. It became evident that the FAST Series was doing all they can do support the local teams and drivers in the Ohio region. On Saturday, the hard work from the series paid off, as 30 teams signed into race for the season opener at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway. It was the largest 410 car count at the facility since 6/6/15, when Greg Wilson captured an All Star win.

Defending series champion, Brandon Spithaler, and runner-up, Ricky Peterson, we’re among returning FAST regulars. After speaking to both of them in the off-season, they both have intentions of starting their 2024 campaigns chasing the FAST title. In more recent news, longtime All Star regulars, Lane Racing, announced their intentions to compete for the FAST championship with driver Zane DeVault. Danny Sams III, Mitch Harble and Jack Sodeman Jr will also be FAST Series regulars in 2024.

The track crews at PPMS were dealing with some really tough conditions. Daytime racing combined with high winds made for an extremely dusty track surface. Some teams elected to end their night early, as long track prep delays extended the program into the night. Ultimately, even the teams who packed up recognized that the track and series were doing all they could to provide a safe race track.

Tim Shaffer won the 20 lap feature from his second place starting spot. He took the lead from pole sitter Danny Sams III and never looked back. Sye Lynch, Dale Blaney and AJ Flick rounded out the top five.

The FAST Series will back back in action on April 6th at the Atomic Speedway.
